JW.Media and his Miata Addiction.

Jimmy Wilkey, or as many know him "JW.Media", is well known in the Boise area for his videography skills but as of recent he spends less time filming cars and more time building them. What started as a single Miata build has turned into two Miatas that have two very different aesthetics to them.

The first Miata that Jimmy bought was his 1991 Miata now dubbed "the Rocket Bunny" finds itself somewhere between track car and show car. Aside from the authentic Rocket Bunny kit the first thing that stands out to you are his custom Work Miester CR01's wrapped in Federal RSR's. To help get the stance correct Jimmy went with form and function coilovers for maximum drivability. The car was professionally wrapped gloss white gold sparkle by Creative Wraps which combined with the bronze lips on his CR01's really pulls the whole car together. Under the hood you can find an extra 200cc's over stock thanks to his 1.8 swap running off of a megasquirt ecu. When I asked Jimmy what his favorite part of the Rocket Bunny Miata was he replied "I love how grippy the car is, it just has too much grip and too little power to be able to spin so cruising backroads is a blast."

To contrast the white Miata Jimmy has a second Miata dubbed "the Stockbody". While the Rocketbunny is a track/show car the Stockbody Miata is more of a drift/stance car. While Jimmy never planned on owning 2 Miatas the price of the second one was too good to pass up so like any car enthusiast he made the financial mistake of purchasing another car with the intent to turn it into a project.

The first thing you notice when you look at the stock body Miata is his KBD kit that is just about dragging on the floor. Considering the purpose of this car is to be able to skid while being low the KBD kit is a bit of a no brainer. Just watching him pull out of his driveway I instantly saw just how flexible his poly rear bumper was, if he had a real PS Deuce kit (the kit the KBD is based on) it would already be in multiple pieces and zip tied together.

While the stock body isn't quite as modified as the rocketbunny Miata it still has its fair share of goodies which include Megan coilovers paired with aftermarket rear upper control arms and front extended lower control arms to attain his matching -10 degrees of camber all around to fit his 16x9 Rota wheels which are ironically reps of the Works that he has on the Rocketbunny Miata. The car is wrapped ember black which really completes the yin yang contrast between the two cars.

While I think it is fair to say that a majority of the car scene first had their interest in modifying cars sparked by the Fast and Furious franchise Jimmy was introduced to this culture in a slightly different way. He found car videos from creators such as Krispy Media and Halcyon which inspired him to pick up a camera as his way into the car scene instead of with a set of car keys. Jimmy's videography is very well known in the Boise area and for good reason, he has been making videos for over 2 years now and gets better with every video he uploads.

While I do not consider myself an "OG" by any means seeing young kids such as Jimmy (oh did I mention he is only 18?) have such a strong passion for cars reassures me that the future of the car scene is bright despite what people on the internet may tell you. With that said thank you for reading and if you want to check out any of Jimmy's work you can find him @ JW.Media on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook etc. *enjoy the rest of the photos of Jimmy and his cars below*
