A friend you've known forever, but never met before

No matter where you go in the automotive world you can always find someone that you can relate to in some way or another. On occasion you will come across someone that you feel like you can talk to for hours even if you've never met them before. Like an old friend you never knew you had. This was certainly the case when I went to meet Alexander Ford, a Boise native. Unlike his last name, Alexander doesn't have a background in domestic cars but rather the Japanese variety.

Alex's fleet currently consists of a Toyota Corona Mark II, Toyota AE86 Trueno Hatchback, Toyota Cressida, and a Nissan 240sx Convertible. Most of the cars being acquired over the past few years due to a string of good fortune and deals he couldn't pass up for cars he's always wanted. Most recently he got the Cressida in a trade from Utah for a different AE86 he had. It came with a 1UZ from a Lexus which he plans to swap into the cressida. The plan for the 5M the car came with would be to possibly replace the 2M inside the Corona.

Unlike a lot of friends I meet with a slew of old school JDM cars, all of Alex's fleet runs and drives! They aren't without their faults or needs of repair, but to have every on of them available to go for a cruise is a feat in and of itself. The conversations bounced around from cars, highs and lows of life, and origins of what got us into cars. It was a short night, but after going for a drive in the cressida and chatting for a while I left Alex's place feeling like I was reunited with an old friend. This sort of friend can be found in any corner of your car community. Find someone who has similar tastes as you and strike up a conversation, it could be a friendship that lasts a lifetime.

Thanks Alexander for letting me come out and experience the fleet of JDM cars. Follow him here! - @alexander_ford_
