Porsche 911: Re-imagined by Singer

Singer vehicle design is a company based out of California that has become the new standard in Porsche restoration/modification companies that have skyrocketed the interest and price of classic 911's exponentially over the past few years. It's name taking after Porsche engineer Norbert Singer, the company was started by Catherine Wheel's former lead singer and guitarist Rob Dickinson. Based out of Sun Valley in California the Singer warehouse takes what is considered to be the best era of air-cooled Porsche's (1989-1994 964's) and strips them down to a bare chassis. From there the owner can go through and select everything from what size engine to what color/weave of stitching the seats are re-upholstered with.

With the companies motto being "Everything is important" it comes as no surprise to see that even things you wouldn't notice are painstakingly shaped and perfected. One of the biggest of these things being that the front bulkhead of the car is completely reworked with fenders made from carbon fiber, a few hints of RSR items brought in from the Aria group, and a classic long hood with the polished fuel filler cap proudly displayed out the frunk. This change alone saves roughly 300 pounds making the car even more of a blast to drive. Customers are given a few choices of a flat-six powerplant as well with either a basic 300hp 3.8L with some efficiency modifications, a 350hp 3.8L with some individual throttle bodies and internal overhaul designed in partnership with Cosworth, or a 390hp 4.0L with many bespoke pieces such as Mahle pistons and an Arrow precision crankshaft to give you the most thrilling naturally aspirated roar available. Each one of these engines are hand built by Ed Pink Racing Engines in California.

It takes roughly 8 months from start to finish for Singer to invest thousands of hours into just one of their beautiful creations. Not only will the customer get to pick their signal/wiper stalk positions but countless hours are put into fitting the bucket seat to the drivers preferred lumbar and thigh support. Also choosing from a seam welded chassis, roll bar, or full cage which can be leather wrapped and stitched to match the rest of the interior. The engine compartment is smoothed and the frunk sound mat is coordinated with the rest of the interior design. But this amount of time invested in design and innovation breathes even more things that first go unnoticed such as nickel-coated door hinges and brass coated lug nuts to ensure the high standard of quality and longevity that this sort of restoration provides.

The car shown in the pictures showed up at the Sun Valley Tour de Force (which is covered in an older article) during one of the pre-meets before the actual show in downtown Sun Valley. As soon as it pulled in a group of people flocked over from other areas that had cars such as a Porsche 959 and Mclaren 720 because the allure of this vehicle is so high. If you know what it is then it's an absolute treat to see, but to most they see an old 911 that has something else going on and it draws a lot of interest. Singer Vehicle design hits the nail on the head with every single piece and adjustment which is what makes these such a work of art. The greatest part is that the company doesn't want the cars to become garage queens either. They're meant to be driven and are designed as such. With 500 miles of testing done to fine tune the suspension components to suit the drivers preference adds another level of detail that sets these apart from any other Porsche. A Porsche 911: Re-imagined by Singer is automotive art in it's purest form.
