Hoonigan Industries in the past couple of years has become a name synonymous with amazing automotive content. With the birth of their very popular Youtube series "Daily Transmissions" they created a way to capture the daily shenanigans that occurred at the Donut Garage. The Donut Garage in Long Beach, CA is the headquarters for Hoonigan Industries. This is the hub for things like designing new products, editing videos, building cars, and all kinds of antics. When the boys started the daily transmissions series they didn't realize that it would become one of the most popular automotive Youtube shows.
With the daily yard shredding things started to progress more and more as drivers began to push the limits of such a small space with views warranting more wild driving. The man-line being the most notable of next level driving in the yard actually began as a krazy kart line that some of the boys had done. With the first real manline being thrown down by the Sh!t-car BMW E36 began a trend of people sliding down the dock and into the small parking lot. Then came BJ baldwin in his trophy truck jumping off the dock into donuts and some of the biggest burnouts that constantly got the fire department called on them. All the shredding of loud vehicles and making clouds of burnout smoke eventually forced Hoonigan to kind of put the DT series on pause.
However that did not stop them from creating awesome content for their channel. They traveled around to different locations for people to shred at and created different series branching off of the original DT. As Hoonigan's mission is to make cars fun, and as they put it "We only do work that works for our brand. This allows us to produce raw, real, and entertaining content that speaks directly to our young, aggressive audience. We’ve built our brand on leading through influence and doing things the others won’t. Our services are diverse, with one thing in common - a massive network that continues to spread like an unchecked virus. " This sort of mindset towards content creation/fun having is the reason why they have grown into a superpower in the world of automotive content whilst continuing to grow and provide genuine content.
The pressing matter of not being able to provide the usual yard shredding for DT episodes called for one of Hoonigans biggest moves to date. In a partnership with Irwindale Speedway in California, Hoonigan has created "The Burnyard" where all of the shredding and Daily-Transmissions episodes will take place. The idea of the Burnyard allows for people to come in, pay $30 to shred (and $15 to spectate the whole event) for a couple of minutes while trying your hardest to put on a great show. If you do well enough at the "Bash" then you could be invited back and have your own episode on the Daily-Transmissions channel. With the first Burnyard Bash occurring on March 2nd it brought out more than 1,000 people and a big line of drivers. Sadly it rained off and on for the majority of the event but that didn't stop people from sending their cars around the yard in an effort to earn their spot in an episode.
Obstacles around the yard were rather sparse for the first event, mainly just jersey barriers and the classic containers from the old yard, but already has evolved into a well laid out course for people to find their own shred lines in. The best part about the yard is that it will continue to evolve as bashes continue so that content stays fresh and exciting. Not only are they improving upon the driving aspect but for all the spectators that come out have plenty of chances to meet the crew, see their cars among many others in the parking lot, and pick up some merch! These bashes have birthed some great episodes of Daily-Transmissions and if you ever make it down to Irwindale with your car you could have the chance to be in one yourself.
